Driving AI maturity, responsible AI governance and scalable enterprise AI solutions for real-world impact

Government Technical Services Corporation (GTSC) is proud to have participated in the pilot program for the CMMI Institute’s emerging AI maturity (AIM) framework — an important step forward in advancing AI governance, AI maturity models and responsible AI adoption across enterprise and regulatory environments.

As organizations accelerate their use of artificial intelligence (AI), many face challenges in balancing innovation with risk management, compliance and scalable implementation. The AIM framework is designed to help address these challenges by enabling organizations to assess, benchmark and improve how AI is implemented in real-world environments.

Shaping the Future of AI Maturity and Governance

GTSC joined a select group of global organizations — including IBM Consulting and Infosys Limited — in collaborating with the CMMI Institute to evaluate and refine the CMMI AIM framework during its pilot phase.

Through this pilot engagement, participants validated how AI maturity assessments can be applied consistently across industries while strengthening:

  • AI governance frameworks
  • Enterprise AI strategy alignment
  • Risk and regulatory compliance in AI
  • Transparency in AI-driven decision-making

These capabilities are critical for organizations looking to scale enterprise AI solutions and transition from experimentation to operational excellence.

Building an AI-Native Enterprise Operating Model

For GTSC, participation in the AIM pilot reinforced the importance of embedding AI into the core of business operations through a structured and governed approach.

“We didn’t just adopt AI tools — we built an AI-native operating model with enterprise governance, a defined architecture and direct CEO accountability,” said Raymond Roberts, CEO of GTSC. “The CMMI AIM pilot gave us the honest baseline we need to do it right.”

This approach reflects a growing industry shift toward AI transformation strategies that prioritize governance, scalability and measurable business outcomes.

Key Insights on AI Maturity and Scalable AI Adoption

  1. AI governance is essential for success
Strong governance frameworks ensure responsible AI use, accountability and long-term sustainability.
  2. AI maturity enables scalable growth
A structured AI maturity model helps organizations unify fragmented efforts and achieve repeatable success.
  3. Trust and transparency drive adoption
Explainable and auditable AI systems are vital, especially in regulated industries.
  4. Business alignment unlocks value
AI initiatives must connect directly to measurable outcomes to deliver ROI from AI investments.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Responsible AI

The AIM framework is expected to be formally introduced at the CMMI Institute’s Capability Creates Conference in June 2026.

GTSC remains committed to applying the lessons learned through this pilot engagement to strengthen its AI capabilities, enhance AI risk management practices and support clients in achieving enterprise AI transformation.

By contributing to the early development of CMMI’s AI maturity standards, GTSC is helping shape a future where artificial intelligence is governed, scalable, secure and aligned with mission-critical outcomes.
